We would like to share with you an interesting story about a talented engineer from Latvia – Juris Klonovs.
We first met Juris in 2015 at the conference organized by our association “Motus Vita”.
He flew in from Denmark, where he was working and doing research in the field of biomedical engineering. Juris introduced us to his innovative technology, which allows ALS/MND patients to communicate independently. After his technology was presented, it was also tested by a few interested parties, mainly ALS patients – our conference participants from the Baltics. The non-invasiveness of the technology made it possible to practically apply the communication system immediately within the conference rooms.
Now, the technology of Juris has a special name – BirgerMind®. This technology has been significantly improved and is specially designed for people with ALS/MND and for those who have movement and speech limitations, as well as for people who are completely paralyzed. BirgerMind® was named after his friend Birger, who has been living with ALS for over 26 years and is completely paralyzed.
This unique assistive technology allows its users to independently write a text, pronounce it in different languages, actively engage in social networks, call for help, and, most importantly, provides an opportunity to communicate with relatives and loved ones, as well as allows patients to express their wishes and exchange thoughts with those around them.
BirgerMind® technology is completely non-invasive. It is based on the “Brain-Computer Interface”, which translates brain signals into specific actions using innovative artificial intelligence algorithms. Once you get used to the interface, writing words can even be done even with eyes closed, using the power of mind, and it works indoors as well as outdoors.
The BirgerMind® team is constantly improving their technology and doing everything possible to help as many patients as possible. Our Motus Vita association supports this promising project and we invite you to support the BirgerMind® development team as well. If you feel that you need this assistive technology or want to know more, just leave your contacts here: als.care and the BirgerMind®️ team will be able to contact you and would be happy to help.
Also, you can contact us with all your questions and suggestions – motus.vita@gmail.com
Express your thoughts loudly.
BirgerMind® technology makes it possible.
