The autumn session of the masterclasses in the frame of the “Open Theatre” programme lead by theatre teacher Tatyana Cherkovska and producer Andrey Garkavi took place, as usual, in the cosy premises of the organisation Svētās Ģimenes Māja. We continue to learn new things about ourselves and to discover our talents, as well as try to get rid of inner blocks and stress. Of course, in our mind we realise that a great part of constraints is created by ourselves. However, realising is one thing, but expanding our horizons in real practice is another thing. Nevertheless, we try, we learn.
As usually, masterclasses started with a group training. The aim of these exercises was to pay more attention to the groupmates and to focus on the present moment. These are crucial abilities which help us a lot in everyday life.
And the main topic of this autumn were sketches about the environment in some imaginary realistic circumstances. After having prepared those sketches at home we played them in front of our colleagues. According to the task, we had to show the audience some environment without saying a word and to include an event into our sketches. This way, we managed to visit a sauna with our characters, to have a ride on a tram, even to visit Venice and a cellar of a house, an art gallery and a ski slope. Since one’s creativeness has no limits!
